Her sister, my grandmother got me into sewing. I've since purchased several 221's (even a later Featherweight from England) at a local auction. They are great for piecing. Simple to use. I also have treadle machines and earlier Singers. Featherweights; until you actually own one, are easy to know. I also own a newer Hushvarna (however it's spelled) -- it's good for everthing else. I'm having a difficult learning curve with the computer part of it; ALTHOUGH -- I've worked with computers since the early 1980's -- weird, to me; this should be easy -- maybe it's the sewing versus the computer.

Its a 221-1 allotted on October 1 1948, I answered this question in 3 post, I hope she gets the information. I know she should be really proud of her score and it is a wonderful machine to own!!

I have the Featherweight in its' case. It was my GMs and then my mom's and now it's mine. Oh, what memories and I will treasure it always. Wish I had a D to pass it on to. Have 4 sons. Have 3 GD but none care for sewing. Have 4 GGkids but again, all boys.
