I want to give a praise to Billy. I had a question about a Singer Featherweight I was interested in buying and he answered promptly. I did get it for $50 and will send pics later. Thanks to Billy.

Try Homesew in Bethlem, Pa. This where I got mine. They now have a .99 shipping charge.

I use a leather bootlace trimmed down to size. Use an awl to pierce small holes in each end and a small paperclip bent to shape with pliers works as the "clamp".

You can use anything, really...I've heard of ladies that use old pantyhose!

When ya bend the paperclip to shape... does that mean the ends of the lace should be touching each other? I want to get my new treadle to treadle but the belt it has is broke. No clip in it and thought I would give your suggestion a try first. How do ya do it, is what I am on about I reckon. LoL!
