There are more but I'll stop here. Don't you love it when they say "comes with a table"....without the "table" it wouldn't work....so, is it not a necessary component? As opposed to something it would just sit on? Wow...people are dense!!! LOL |

I don't know what the market is like for this type of machine, but it does seem like it could be worth what they are asking for. I'm sure at one time this cabinet and machine would sell way over a thousand. |
I would say strictly a collector's piece. I am sure it's worth it for its rarity, age, condition.

Here you go folks....bargin at twice the price!! ;)

Super special 301A
Now this one is special. Just read the entire ad. Now this machine may be worth what he's asking but.... I just don't know so I'll let other experts on here decide.

Oh, and if I wanted to travel, I could pick up this 201. Oops, I mean the "15k88." http://dallas.craigslist.org/ndf/for/2784563956.html. Plus it has one of those rare and expensive button holers.
But, if you're looking for something portable, have I got a deal for you! http://dallas.craigslist.org/ftw/atq/2780368780.html. Umm...I just don't see how you could convert a sewing machine into a pottery wheel? http://dallas.craigslist.org/mdf/art/2779149122.html. Maybe I need some of whatever the seller is on?? This one is still listed - I called about it. She wanted to know what questions I had -I asked if it has a spoked wheel (I want to make a hand crank machine) - no. I asked what she wanted for it, she said to make an offer, I said I would need to see it first, but from I could see $30 tops. She complained that it was a rare antique machine. I told her that it wasn't a 15, it was a 66, I could tell by the design and from the serial number I told her the year and that 50,000 were made from serial numbers assigned during just that assigned day. She really wanted to have more (a lot!) - and to have me close the deal before even seeing it in person. I have no idea of the condition and she wasn't willing to let me check it out. She told me to text her when I decided. Haven't texted her and I don't believe she will sell it. I did buy a La Vincendora from eBay this week, so I need to play catch up and restore the NewHome and put a crank on the new one before I even look at any others!

Still...yeah...just a bit much. |
Thanks for this thread....I have had lots of giggles from it!
My hubby has given up trying to get me to part with any machines...now he wants me to get rid of my old wooden ironing board....lol...hey, I had to dumpster dive for that one! |
http://dallas.craigslist.org/ndf/atq/2810169966.html
 And that's all I have to say about that. |
Funny-I found mine at the Salvation Army for $10. Also, just because it's listed online for $Texas, doesn't mean it's selling online for $Texas!
http://norfolk.craigslist.org/hsh/2801892597.html |
Sounds like they need a Texas-sized reality check!
|
Ok....I'm confused, but not enough to spend this much! :D

Yeah, I love those 99's and 221's that show up on ebay and they want $499.00 for them. You think, wow this must be really special, click into it and realize that it's in deplorable condition. Really love the ones with the white motors on the black machines. Somebody sees it at their house and says, man, you should sell that they're getting hundreds of dollars for those now - they don't bother to look up what other people are selling for how much - they just throw one or two pictures out there and give it a "pristine" price. I've gone as far, as sending them a message that they should really compare theirs to the others they're competing with and reset their price at something more appropriate.... (I know, I'm bad - but they really are wasting their money paying for Ebay ads for nothing).

I belong to a farming forum and the "goat" people were also posting funny CL ads pertaining to goats that were for sale...hahaha!! I couldn't help but think of this thread.

What is sad is that other sellers see those prices and then they think they can get that.

I like this one. It's cheap. They make it seem like you are getting a great deal since it comes with attachments and manual, and cabinet looks very nice, but it's just missing the treadle pedal.
