Having been an antique dealer in the past....some of those are pre- 911 shop prices. I have sold treadles for $3-500, but now things are so different....So is the new pre-war and post-war era? We used to use those terms when referring to WWI or WWII.

http://charlotte.craigslist.org/atq/2744214087.html NO MACHINE, JUST THE CABINET!!!! there is a machine in this cabinet. The very last picture has a black singer in it.

Ok....if I had the money to burn, I'd probably buy the cabinet. The machine? Heh! Not so much!

Southern California has always commanded higher prices for antiques than most of the rest of the US. I've known folks that would travel and buy and head to San Diego or LA to resell it. Back in the early 80's, my brother and his family paid for an entire 2 week vacation by doing just that...bought a bunch of antiques in Colorado, then went home and sold them for more than what the trip and the antiques cost...put a nice chunk of change in the bank.

Kind of makes me think of the ant and the rubber tree - He had high hopes! I think all of these sellers do too. LOL.

If this machine is very old, then I am ancient! Hah!!!

This killed me - the tag line on this emphasizes that it has a "round bobbin" - as opposed to the standard triangular ones that we all use, I presume?

Great thread - here's some from my area:

http://ottawa.en.craigslist.ca/atq/2746887546.html $500 Pheonix (?)

http://ottawa.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-se...AdIdZ340977938 $525 for a 1950's machine (not in good shape).

http://ottawa.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-se...AdIdZ337698331 $500 treddle.

http://www.usedottawa.com/classified...ation_14225214 I certainly hope the machine in the picture is not the one that is used for the alterations...unless the alterations are done by a 7-year-old?
