I don't think it's a coincidence that there are 0 hours on it since the rebuild. I don't remember... does a 237 have plastic in it? If it does, with that motor, the bang will be spectacular!

I wonder which attachment it is,... maybe it's a crocheted button,.. :p
Or something like the Singer book that shows you how to make lace on a straight stitch machine....

I don't understand the lack of punctuation in so many of these ads.....do some Craig's List cities charge extra for that or something?

Wow,.. and I've been looking for another 15-91. Of course the last one was 1/30th that price. I guess I'm still looking. ;)

What's the white thing in the bench with the cord? It looks like it might have a Singer badge on it...

I just want to email this one and say "SHAME on YOU!"

blueheavenfla 11-26-2012 03:41 PM

I wondered the same but I think that it may be a very old, and might I say useless, electric scissors. I had something that looked like that back in about 1970.

Ahh! Thank you! I've never seen them before. I had a feeling they might be something like that. I guess there's a reason there's not modern version of them at the store these days. :)

I've seen many a pair of these at garage sales. Most of the time, the seller will tell me that they aren't that wonderful mainly because most users wound up cutting the cord while using them! I do have a pair of battery operated scissors. I haven't used them in years, in fact, I'm not quite sure where they are!

Ha!! That's funny, I wouldn't have considered that, but yeah,.. I had the same problem as a teenager with the electric lawnmower. Though, I think that might have been on purpose - Run the cord over enough times, you don't get volun-told to mow the lawn anymore. :D

Possibly today those would be deemed "too dangerous" to be on the market by the lawyers.

"Reality Check" needed!

A 1950 Singer 128 for $325? Really?!

More like $50-75 max in this area - and then only if the case is in good condition.

I got one in better shape with all the extras for $25.00. I see they must read our post because he used Godzilla to describe the finish and I have only heard that term here on the QB

Hey Skip,
http://www.ismacs.net/singer_sewing_...ic-decals.html
Most of the way down the page.

That's a name I'd heard before I came here. It does seem that this person did their homework on everything but the price though. Probably got bit by the "I'll look at current listings on ebay" thing again.

They did do their homework and I agree it must be the "ebay" thing again. If I could sell some of my machines for what they are asking on ebay I could get rich:D

I asked him if he was high or left out a decimal point...but neither is the case because his appraiser told him that was the average sale price for these. whatever.

He needs to get his money back from the appraiser since he obviously is out of his league on this type of appraisal.

Other than these machines/prices that we laugh at, has anyone else noticed the "general fair price" of machines is going up?
It seems to me that what I used to be able to pick up for $50 or less is now actually selling for $100 or more?
