Congratulations on your Davis! I just finished attaching binding to my first quilt with my Davis!

There are pictures here on pages 533, 474, 519, 585, 554, 593, and 817. What is your serial number? It is listed on the slide plate? I am trying to put together a dating list for this group.

Nancy, please put me on your list for give aways. I can drive to California. I just looked at the Jones again, is that price kind of low right now?

The original purchase date was June 20, 1956, and I bought it because my birthday is June 20, and I figured that was a sign, like I needed one. It came in a Singer cabiinet, with all the attachments and manuals, buttonholer and manual as well. This was 3 years ago, before I knew about sewing machine addictions. I already had quite a few machines already, but didn't realize I had a "problem" until I joined this board. LOL

Melinda, they were only made until 1956 so that has to be one of the last models - a 66-24!

I've recently been using my Mum's late 60s Husqvarna and loved its solidity and reliability, but she's not about to part with that, so as I could do with a lightweight machine, I decided to take the plunge.

Congratulations! You won't regret it!

Yes, but I bet it goes crazy right before it closes! There are 10 bids, which means there are probably at least 5 people watching it!

I tried to give him some constructive criticism and even tried to smooth it over by compromising but they were so ashamed that I tarnished the site on the web for everyone to see. All I did was quote what he said directly and things that we have heard throughout the years there. Basically I reinforced everyone's perception of what the attitude of the Needlebar is like.

But this is his opinion of this site, our Shop, and members over here including me. Honestly do you really want to be a part of this dictatorship?

I think it is time to pull down the curtain on "The Billy Show" in the NeedleBar. Let him perform his egotistical antics elsewhere for those gullible enough to listen to his manipulative bullshit.

So Billy, now you can go over to the other forum where you can paint yourself as "Saint Billy", soothe your giant ego and tell them all about the injustices meted out to you by the evil Alan Quinn in his NeedleBar lair.

Someone over here forwarded the other quotes that I made about the site to him so I imagine that they will do the same thing about this one. And you know what I could care less and I am sticking by my guns on this one.....

This is OUR shop and we are all family here and the welcome mat is always out! Plus its not like an old stuffy museum, we like to use our machines like we stole them!! :P

Oh by the way I have a fresh pot of coffee on and my wife baked a couple of her famous chocolate pies!!!

an I come over for tea?Been lurking a long time and now out! pab

My mom has Sears Franklin treadle machine. She's had it for years, my step-grandmother gave it to her. She hasn't used it in a few years because she said it was hard to find parts for it. She says the bobbin (bullet shaped) is probably worn out and probably needs to be serviced too, because she's not able to adjust the stitching. It is a good sturdy machine from what I remember!

Thankyou! I'm really excited- also a bit nervous till I actually set eyes on it, but mostly excited! I've heard so much about these machines and how their owners love them.

Nancy, just went to the Jones auction and looked at bid history - 8 people have bid on it. You are right it will go crazy soon.

How bad will this be to get it going again? Does it sound like it just needs grease, or a whole new motor? The motor belt needs replacing, but there's something going on with the motor, as it just doesn't turn the belt much at all. What can I try? All the wiring looks surprisingly good.

If yours didn't come with the manual, I would be more than glad to fax or e-mail you copies of the oiling & greasing diagram from mine. Send me a PM if I can be of help.
