Nancy,
Very pretty quilts and the machine is far too pretty to part out.

While servicing my FW this weekend, the flakes were falling into the gears. I was camping, so didn't have everything I needed for the job at hand. I just picked the flakes out with a pin, and carried on with the lube job. At the time I read the thread, I was unaware of the flakes, now I have a need to know.

Should I rewire the machine? Is that something which can be done by a good handyman, or do I need to pay a sewing machine specialist more than I paid for the machine to do the job? It's a great little machine and I like to keep it up, but that stitch in time thing is nagging me.

Just brush it off, as long as the wires are intact you're okay.

At over 1000 pages I too think it should have a separate section like Main or classified-----so maybe we should suggest that?

For the flaking insulation, try in the 980s somewhere--I think?

Glenn,
I'm so glad to hear that you're alright.

Where can I find information on a Jones serial number 92397. I was told that this machine was made in 1890. Kathie

Have you oiled these parts well?? There has to be a reason they don't move. Rust? Is something else in the way? Are the feed dogs pushed up against one side or the other? Get the hammer out. It'll move eventually!! Just kidding!!! I'm sorry I can't be of more help. Either the smarter people on here don't know the answer either or they haven't read the whole page. I sometimes just look at the pics and explanations of pics, when I am in a hurry. Hope someone gets back to you soon!

Trust me kids I am working on it but it seems that it does not warrant its own section yet. Maybe if you guys PM the Admin maybe that would help..........
