Look what came in the mail today!!!
I bought a Singer hand crank last week on E-bay. She is a K28 model made in 1902. When I was taking pictures and looking her over, I noticed that inside the back plate, her serial number is scratched into the japanning. Does anyone know why that would have been done??

Buy till there are no machines left to be found?

Hahahaha!!!  That is a very tempting thought, although not practical!! I will have to find a place to put any new machine I buy...my sewing room is now full to bursting!!

Have you gone vertical yet? :D

Hahaha!!! Actually, yes. I have shelves that go nearly to the ceiling, and all the shelves are full.

In the picture, does it look like there's a bobbin winder on the right? Hard to see. Nice machine, though!!

I keep hearing you talk about the "2 spools' and I wonder what makes it a "2 spools", I keep thinking there should be a second spool of thread or something. Not to sound too dumb, just wondering. Thanks in advance

Yes there is a second spool of thread. Instead of a bobbin, a can that holds a spool of thread is used. The machine has a winder for winding thread onto a wooden small spool from another spool. I will take more pictures of the machine.

Additional photos are of my 2nd Two Spools in parlor cabinet with coil-spring belt that I recently put on.

OOOOOHHHHHH!!!! OK. Now I see. I thought the bobbin winder for sure meant it was not a 2 spools!! See....I learn something new on here every day!

Congratulations on you award. It is a beauty! Drive it on down to San Diego and let me see.....

Thanks, Chris. Actually I made a typo...it was 60's and Newer Cars class. Anyway, when we get the front end rebuilt we will be able to drive her farther. Right now 30 miles is about as far as we got, and she kind of wobbles around a little getting there. DH drives her, but as soon as she's all fixed, I"M gonna be the main driver!!

I took pics of this machine I am confused about finding a manual; it just does not match the pics in manuals. And something is amiss with the bobbin winder. Billy said it was a 99- class 66. I know it is a ¾ crinkle head. It has a blue vacuum power cord and a lamp wire for the foot controller. So I’ll ask more pros here, what is wrong and where is this manual? Thanks

Your bobbin winder is missing the part that makes it come up when the bobbin is full.
Look at this web page http://singeroriginalvintageproducts...tageParts.aspx
Scroll down on the right and you'll see a bobbin winder parts diagram and it shows the parts you're missing.
