The last patent date on the slide is 1885, serial number 426889, and she's got a wooden pitman. Nancy, did you ever clear up the wooden pitman age thing? Everything I've found to date indicates a pre-1890 machine...but I'm just not confident that it's correct... The attachments are interesting too....several of them are broken :( , but some are still good. This machine is going to be fun to play with if I ever get her back together!! She's apart in my dining room right now... Charlee, Congrats!! You will have that cleaned up and purring for you. Sorry to hear about the attachments. |
Wow, did you guys see this auction? The seller doesn't say, but I'm thinking... how does someone have this many machines... maybe a storage unit that went up for auction? It's pretty amazing!

Well, anybody on this thread who refurbishes machines and is near West Chester, PA could make a real killing ... LOL! Imagine what all of those machines would sell for individually.
There's even a 15-91 in there, which is the one I want!! Although if you look at the supersized pictures, a lot of them are pretty rusty, and most are very dirty... it would take quite a bit of work to get all of them ready to sell, I suppose. |

You know, I have a vintage Singer treadle machine in my living room. Bought it in an antique store about 15 years ago on the west coast of FL. I haven't taken the time to open her up and see what kind she is now that I know I can get the serial number and find out. I think I will put this on my list of things to do this weekend. Stay tuned, I will post pictures and let you all know what I find out.
I know she works, but needs a spindle for the thread. |

Some will never sell. Some are good. I think a person would be better off buying what they want if they can find it at a decent price. Could of been an old sewing machine business that folded.
