Since Janis' wish came true on this forum, I'll put mine in. I'd like a 1949 FW. Did they make 'em then? I have a 54 that I wouldn't give up as it came as a gift from my sister, but would really love to have one from '49. Any genie's in a bottle out there?? LOL!

I know where there is a plain Jane white FW from 1964. send pm

Earlier this year I bought this clone "Fabric" that I call the Tank because it is the heaviest machine I own. We put a new foot and wiring on it for a grand purchase total of $57.00

I wanted to put the clone in a cabinet as it weights too much to be lifting up onto the table. I took my new cabinet for the 404 and refinished it (again with some help from here)

Sammy I love your 404 and the "Fabric" clone! Are you saying that the Fabric machine fits in your 404's cabinet, and that you are going to put the Fabric in the cabinet? Nice job on the cabinet too!

But I had to promise my hubby that I wouldn't buy any more. He said that they'd have to be paying me to take them for me to get any more machines. I do have a 1939 FW, that I got in May, an old serger (yard sale) in June, and my 1928 99 in Aug., and now this one in Oct. I guess that's quite a few in a short amount of time!!

Janis I am so happy that you are getting your 'dream' machine, the 1945 FW, but you know that 1939 FW is something to be proud of. They didn't start making the FW's until 1933 so those really early ones are especially nice to own! I have a 1935 - first run - of that year, a 1939, 1953, and 2- 1964's - love em!

I just wanted to say that I tried to join the 'N' site several months ago - maybe last year? This was after we all got locked out. It takes weeks to get accepted - after filling out all the information - I waited and tried several times to get into the site. I finally gave up. It is a shame that people like me who just really enjoy the history of all the vintage machines can't access information openly to help us learn. I never understood the need to exclude others from the privilege of learning. It is a good thing all sites are not like that - knowledge should be available to all who want to be educated.

Sorry Billy, just had to add my two cents. I will not go there again.

What can you tell me about this Wizard machine.
I've never seen one like this. Does anyone else have one?
How do I find out the year or anything about it?
The wiring is all bad and the mount for the motor is Broken.
Can I get new wiring and a foot pedal for it?
I love this shop!
Thanks

Janis anything is possible you know!

Billy

YES!!!! JaneK PM'd me and said that she had a 1945 Featherweight for sale, and then e-mailed me pictures of it. I said YES!!! I WANT IT!!!! I'm sending her a check tomorrow and then she'll send it to me. JaneK is providing that needle in the haystack!!! I am so excited!!!! Can you tell???? :D :D :D
WOOHOO!!!!! That's EXCITING!! I know I was thrilled when the spousal unit bought me my 56 for my birthday...wouldn't trade that machine for the world! :) Congrats!!!!!
Yes that is EXCITING. Last year my DH bought a FW in the year of 1946 and when it arrived we looked up the serial numbers and found out it was alloted on the same day as I was. Talk about being EXCITED well I guess you can tell I will not part with that machine. So glad you were able to do the same. Enjoy your new treasure.

The Singer 404 now becomes a portable and I found a little suitcase in WM that just molds the machine, has wheels and a handle and it is light enough I can carry it. I think I am done on the machines, I have 4 now. I also have a Featherweight but can't locate picture. I sew on all my machines and really enjoy them.

Just a beautiful job on the cabinet.
