I gave $15 for one that was in way better condition than that one. But you know I am crazy enough to save it. I have reveneered several treadle cabinets and just about have it down to a science!

That is terrible. I feel bad for it! I just got a phonecall from McCall--the lady down the Cape with a cellar full of vintage sewing macines. She says she will give 4 away for free because they need a lot of restoration. Her others she is not sure she will sell. She mentioned she has an Elias Howe-- I told her about this site and gave her the web address. Maybe we will hear more from her on here. I also told her I would go to her place to take pictures to put up on the site. But I cannot go until at least next Thurs. due to some minor surgery, I have to call her to make arrangements to meet. McCall says she has another woman to call and I said I thought it might be someone else from this group. I had offered to go with someone from Millis on this site but I got no response. I don't want these machines for myself(one or two oldies is enough for me. I went and bought all the cleaners and stuff so I want to get started this weekend.

Billy, I think I have seen three machines (including one of mine) on here recently that are missing their tyres on the bobbin winder - do you have any suggestions where I might get a replacement for mine? And the next question is are they all a standard size?

Ebay or you can go to the hardware store and use an o-ring but I will find the right diameters and pot them but there are several sizes they can be

Some people just do not value a machine at all.

This is a machine that I am bringing home next week. My DD and I found it at an antique store. We went back today to get pictures of it. It is only $95 for everything!! And the drawers are full of notion and attachments. I talked to the lady who was selling it. It belonged to her niece's grandmother and the niece didn't want it. My mouth almost hit the ground.

It is a Singer Teach and Sew, # AP 627028. It purrs like a kitten too!!
