Haven't been able to spend much time here, but it looks like some really neat machines are being adopted! :)

Nancy, The skipped stitches....could they be a result of the speed? I know my Pfaff skipped stitches if I was sewing too fast OR slow...

Miriam...can't wait til your new little one is here!! Babywatch! What fun!!

I think the there is a modified bobbin case for the 319 that has a cutaway to allow for the 15x1 needle, and I read about altering the original ones to make the 15x1 needle work. Some of the bobbin cases are not interchangable because of a slot in the side of the bobbin case that has to be there because of a keyway in the bobbin case holder.

The top I have is just setting on the machine - it is damaged beyond use - she may have already been robbed of her clips I don't know. Once those are toast the replacement doors are more expensive than the machine probably was. At least they will still sew without the lid on it.

Where did you see that?

Candace did you see this machine on craigslist? It looks like a 319 to me! People always think if there is a manual with the machine, the machine is whatever the manual says! This is not a 66!http://sacramento.craigslist.org/for/2722360409.html

I love the cabinet too, it looks like it is in great shape!

Thanks for the birthdate. How do determine the full date? The Singer site currently only gives the year. Yes, the cabinet is in a wonderful condition considering it is 102 years old.

We have decided to name her Alberta which is the name of the lady who originally owned her. We purchased the machine from Alberta's grandson. Originally Alberta's brother inherited it after she died and when the brother died, the grandson got it. It had been sitting in the grandson's shop for at least ten years. The grandson says he remembers his grandmother sewing and mending all of the denim work clothes on it and they lived on a local dairy farm.

Nancy, I don't know if you have a manual for your 319 so here is a copy of the pages using the bight controls. Hope this will help you some.

That still doesn't account for the height of the needle bar, though. I don't plan on ever messing with mine to force it to take 15 needles. Singer made this machine to take the special needles for a reason and I may be a purist at heart, but they're really not hard to find and it makes the machine even more special;>

Nancy, I've already e-mailed this person once and corrected them(nicely) and they never corrected their ad and have put it up WRONG again. So, it really looks like this person doesn't give a sh*t about what they're selling. LOL!
