Candace what size needle do you use in the 319's? I only have size 80/12. As you know this machine takes a special needle, so I will have to order some more if the 80/12's won't work! I love the fact that the 319w does the decorative stitches, but I am glad I am using her decorative stitches only for finishing seams right now because the stitches don't show! I haven't had time today to play with her, been cleaning house and baking all day!

Glenn, the cabinet "Candace" sits in is complete now - the flip top is screwed back on! I love my 319w, I just hope I can figure out why she doesn't want to play with me! Glenn, do you have any problems with your 319's stitches? What size needle do you use?

PS Charlee paint away! That cabinet is very lucky to have you whatever color/paint you use!

I use 12, 14, or 16. If 12 isn't going through then maybe a 14 is in order. How many layers are you sewing through? Kind of odd...if you look at the stitch out I made for you with the decorative stitching there's no skipping. Though that's only a single layer of material with probably a 12 needle. You probably will have to use some of the heavier needles to punch through multiple layers. Hope this helps.

If you're banned for painting your cabinet, you can join me in the bar-I painted mine this summer. (The table my Pfaff 130 came in.) It was beat up veneer over a mix of solid wood and something like plyboard, only not. I did try cleaning it, and reglued a bunch of the veneer back down, but in the end, it was clean, but ugly. I painted it a slate-y grey (Hubby says it's battleship grey-he's threatened to put a hull number on the back of the stool :) ) and polished up the brass handles, and it looks fine. I used car wax on top of the paint on the work surface, and everything slicked up nicely.

I vote for the Hindeloopen! I had to google it-that's really cool! Neat how it echoes the fancier decals. If you can do that, you've got steadier hands than I do, that's for sure! Oh, and I found a quilt for you to aspire to-http://www.dutchquilts.net/shop/product.php?productid=14&cat=2&page=1 while I was googling. :)

Candace I did see that your sample stitches were perfect! I am only finishing a seam, two layers of cotton fabric, no batting, no back, no lining, the 80/12 should be perfect for that if not a little too large even. I will practice some more. I am so use to my treadles that only have a stitch length regulator that I think I am not adjusting something right on this 319w? I need to just sit and play more with the machine, this fancy decorative stitching using the treadle is very different - and very cool! The #3 cam seemed to work better for a while, then it skipped too. The #5 built in zig zag did the same thing. I haven't even tried the straight stitch! Yikes! And, I wish I'd of checked the size of needle you had in the machine when I got it! I always put a new needle in when I get a new machine so I don't know what size you were using! After Thanksgiving I will play more with her and see what is going on!
