I keep seeing those machines posted at around $500; I'll never pay that, but I will have fun dreaming and drooling from afar.

I got rid of one and have another one to get rid of. I'm not all that impressed with the one I have - the bobbin loads on the back - very hard to do even for my small hand. It sews a nice stitch. I think I like the long stitch length. I'm thinking it has plastic gears that could break. Mine is called Favorit - I think my favorite is a 403...

Those industrial ones, right? I know, they're so cool. I've never sewn on an industrial machine, but I'd like to give one a whirl.

One more post on the subject. If you go to a computer that does not normally access the QB, and do a search for vintage machines, guess what pops up? We do have an influence on the sellers that are researching, whether they're selling on ebay or Craig's List. I've seen TONS of listings that say, "This machine (usually a 15-91 or a 201-2) is VERY popular with quilters".
That's all on that subject other than we all need to remember that the things we type don't always come across the way we meant for them to. I know I've offended a few folks from time to time, with no intention of doing so. Of course, I've also offended one or two and it was exactly what I was aiming for! :D (Most of the time tho, it was innocent and unintended!!)

Different subject! Went junkin' today...didn't find much. Did find some nice quilting books, older ones, got 5 for $10.

OH!! And I saw some "Domestic" attachments, Domestic buttonholer, and a manual for a Domestic 153, for $6....I can go back tomorrow if anyone needs them...just let me know! (These are "top clamp" attachments)

Jon

I did send a message to a CL lister who showed the cabinet, but not the machine. I simply stated "Trying to sell a sewing machine by showing only the cabinet, is like trying to sell a car by showing a closed garage door". The seller promptly sent me some pictures of the machine, saying they never thought about it that way.

Well, here is my happy thought for today!! I had a dream come true last week when the FedEx truck delivered a perfectly wrapped, and shipped with no problems, Yellow Brother Window-Matic Sewing Machine that I pm-ed a nice lady that I knew had it and asked what she wanted for it. And thank you, Miriam, for selling me that machine. It sews so well, and it also is beyond beautiful. It has the same shape as the Atlas Family, so looks cool on my shelf with them. I have to think of a good project to make with it, and none of my machines has a name except this one. Yes, Miriam. I haven't had a chance to post pics, but it is righteous, to say the least.

So, now the race is on to find the Red One, because I am always lurking, I mean looking. Also, I bought a White Jeans Machine at a yard sale for $5 with a low shank hopping quilting foot in the accessory drawer. I was thoroughly stoked when I saw it. The machine has issues, but I researched one that sold on Ebay for $90, so I am ok with my $5.

Monica; I have one tht I paid almost $300 for at an estate auction. Was bidding against a guy who buys, then refurbs and then sells the vinatge machines at a higher price. DH totally understood, NOT!! :D, why I wanted that machine but he let me go for it. I love it but it is heavy. The stitches are fun to play with but am pretty sure I need to do something with the motor because ocasionally I see a spark when I'm sewing.
Chris
Edited to add: I agree with Miriam, the bobbins are a b**** to load and kitty quilt inspectors also don't help matters much.

You're the person!! Yes, you purchased numerous machines that day, correct!? You called it Fritz, right? Those machines are so manly and German looking.
