I'am keeping the cabnit going to have it altered to fit my old viking Dottie Bug

there is a secret compartment in the bottom of one of the Singer boxes, I discovered white disks in there one day. I don't think I have a machine that uses them - those aren't my thing.

I like that one, very nice! I like the detail on the front.
I saw this post on this blog about the 40a cabinet. http://www.doubleveil.net/zssmp/singer.htm

I have a cabinet like that - I should have sent it home with Glenn - it was in the big barn by the open door - had a rusted out Singer 15 - we almost tossed that cabinet on the fire but I liked it so much I was hoping some day to get it fixed up. I don't know - mine is a real mess. I think it has a lift and other neat features - veneer is in crumbling condition a bit of mold...

I'm in the middle of two quilts, one for each of my Aunts, that I'm sewing with my mothers HOTHER. AFter that we're gonna make us one and I'll be trying my 66s out for sure.

There is a couple Singer machines that are lumped together under a model series. I believe the 6010 and 6020 is one of those and that the only difference is the number of built in stitches they have. But, don't quote me on that.

Joe

Joe, I can't wait to see photos of the quilts you are making for your Aunts!

Do you like the 101? The underside is totally different than other Singers. Is a potted motor and good thing, or a bad?

Hi Purplefiend,
Do you have a 101? and what is your opinion, of a potted motor.
Thank you

Nancy

I've got the top almost assembled for the first one. Hope to complete that today and start piecing the second one.
Will get pics of both when assembled then.

Got to get out to the garage and finish another machine case and some cabinet repairs before the weather gets stinky too. Ah so many things to do, so few hours.

Time just seems to fly by! Totally off the topic of sewing machines. For those of you who live up in the Northern CA area. I didn't realize that there are farms in the Vacaville, area. I have seen Alpacas before up in Woodland.
I am going to go visit this ranch today. The Alpacas are so very cute. I am into crochet, and love the alpaca yarn.

Anamaria,

The 101 was Singers first potted motor. It was very expensive and wasn't their best seller. The motor wasn't as strong as the later 201 and 15-91 potted motors were. I have one and it is a very nice sewer and a cute machine.

The motor at this age will most likely need to be lubed and possibly rewired. The instruction manual gives directions on how to remove the motor for servicing. There is a set of beveled gears in side of the machine that will need grease and can only be accessed by removing the motor, not too terribly difficult. I can help you if needed.

Cathy

Interesting information on the tax advantage of owning an Alpacas farm.
