It was just out of adjustment. I needed to just loosen the set screw and rotate it forward just a frog hair and it works really well now. Thank you for your help Nancy.

Does anyone have some compiled information on base/head compatibility? I remember reading that there were different spacings even within a brand but it seems that there's also some cross brand compatibility.

I can say that a WW9 does not fit in a Davis NVF cabinet. Ask me how I know - LOL.

Again thanks to Judy the sewer and Cathy for posting great pics of the glass feet for the WW8

looks like a really old Elna. I've not seen this before.

Some deals up there http://muskegon.craigslist.org/clt/3325953546.html

Miriam,

That is an Elna #1, AKA 'The Grasshopper'. Neat little straight stitch machine.

Laura, go for it - be quirky! I bet everyone in the class will be asking you what you are sewing on! I love to take an unusual machine - it gets other like minded people interested in the vintage machines! I've managed to hook a few people that way!

Love the photos of the glass feet!

Nancy

Thanks for the encouragement! It sews a really nice stitch with that cute little hammer head. Have to get a new bulb, though. Laura

Hey all you grandmother's, wouldn't that quilt behind the mid arm table be a great project! We could get some fabric paint, paint each grandchild's foot, and make a quilt block with each grandchild's footprint! I think that is a cool idea! http://sacramento.craigslist.org/art/3322702466.html Hummmmm on second thought, though, it might be really messy - but, what fun the kids would have!

Ok this is a puzzle. Grant PM'd me about this Pfaff 230 and it has both of us puzzled! http://chicago.craigslist.org/nwc/atq/3370410650.html

That black 230 is nothing like my 230. It is missing the top control for the embroidery stitches, the spool pin is in a different location on that machine, knob B, which is above the needle positioning is missing? Did Pfaff have different versions of a particular model? This is really weird to me! I would love to see that black 230 in person.

Anyone know what the heck that 230 is and why my 230 is so different?

Nancy

Nancy - I don't know anything about the Pfaffs but looking at the covers of the manuals in these links I wonder if there's something different between the 230 and the 230 Automatic?
