Hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving. We had the traditional dinner, and it was all good. My cornbread dressing turned out really good and we smoked out own turkey for the first time, and my inlaws and our family had a happy meal together. Now on to some Christmas projects.

Cathy, I haven't had time to sit down and check out why my 319w is hitting only when I ask for a zig zag/decorative stitch. It is very frustrating, though, as that is the only machine I have set up that I can get to when I need to do zig zag! It has become my go to machine for quick mending projects! I needed to zig zag a hole in a turtle neck sweater the other day - so irritating when you are in a hurry and the machine won't cooperate! There has to be something wrong with my timing? But, it worked just fine after I re-timed it for the second time until I tried sewing the 2 ends of binding together on a quilt! I was just finishing the project - the machine was right there! That is the first time I hit the casing - I thought going through all the thickness was just too much for the machine - now, it is messed up again, except for the straight stitch! I have a ton of treadles that straight stitch - I need the machine to do what it was set up to do - decorative stitches! I have lots of machines that will do decorative, but they are not set up all the time - only my treadles are out and ready to use all the time!

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I am always glad when it is over - it seems I never get to visit with all my family as I am in the kitchen cooking all day!

Sorry, I don't mean to just sit and complain! I do enjoy the holidays, but I am glad when they are over!

Cathy, I really would like you to look at this machine. This weekend is out, though, I have a horse clinic all day tomorrow and Sunday I am helping my granddaughter with the quilt she is making for her boyfriend! Maybe, next weekend?

I know Skip is off the computer right now until he gets his modem fixed, but I wonder how much he actually uses his 319 in treadle? Do any of you actually use a Singer 319 much? I am actually trying to get another Pfaff treadle. It has a Pfaff 30 in it right now, but I'd love to take that 30 out and put in one of my vintage Pfaff's like my 260! Then I would have 2 machines that I can treadle and do decorative stitches! It is just so hard finding the Pfaff cabinets!

Has anyone switched out a Pfaff machine? Do they switch out as easily as the Singers do - into the treadle cabinets that is?

Rodney should rescue you on that zz problem - he would treadle real easy.

Yesterday, hands on hips, Miss L looked at my herd of old broken machines. She pointed to an old beat up Singer 66 that had some jeans denim around the arm. Indignant, she said. "Grandma, why did somebody try to fix that sewing machine with a piece of fabric?" I told her people used to put a piece of fabric there to catch pins. Then I showed her how the pins scar up the paint on the machines. She said they should just use a magnet like momma does. BTW she tested out Rodney - pronounce Rodney really cool but WHERE is Cinderella. Just making sure I still have Cinderella I guess.

Miriam, Rodney would probably be a great treadle machine, but again you have the problem of putting a Japanese machine into a treadle cabinet. They usually don't just drop in without modifying the hinges on the cabinets. I really want a treadle machine that does more than just zig zag, though. That is why I love the 319w! It does a lot of decorative stitches - when it works that is! I also love all my vintage Pfaff's for the same reason!

Everyone, I bought Rodney from Miriam! I am so excited! My DH's name is Rodney - how cool will it be to own the machine with his name on it!!! Now I need to find a "Nancy" machine! Hehehehehehe - there actually is a machine named "nance," but, the spelling is wrong!

What problems do you have with the hinges? I've switched Singers and Japanese machines from one case to another and have put Japanese machines in Singer cabinets and never had an issue as long as the hinges matched the cases and cabinets.


Now, since you bought Rodney from Miriam, you ARE going to post us some pics ..... right?

The hinge pins on the Japanese made Rodney should line up perfectly with the Singer ones. I have switched cabinets and cases back and forth many times between Japanese made machines and Singers. The Japanese made machines usually used the Singer footprint.
BTW, Have you ever seen that huge hammer I use to threaten unruly machines into submission? They always give up.:D:D:D
