If you can't find a good answer, "Just oil any place metal to metal contact is made while running." is a good rule of thumb. Plastic pieces should have grease instead of oil. As should all gears, metal or plastic.

I did the best I could but would like to find her a book. I know nothing about how to look this one up. It is a Wizzard and has cams that go with it. The bobbin winder is on the side with a tire. You can see the Wizard I have on page 2121, no cams though. My machine is from 1966. It runs right smoothly too, and I oil in all the holes on top and on the bobbin winder, and open the face door and oil anything that moves, and when you raise it up, anything that moves. My mom made most of our clothes with it, and I made my kids' clothes with it, and "took in sewing" as they say here, for many years. I have the manual somewhere in a box from a move about 20 years ago, but remembered what I needed for mine. |

Today was my lucky day. I just scored a 201 for $20.00. It is clean and has been rewired and sews really great and very quite. The SN is Ak678341 made in 1951. I think it is a centennial. This is my first 201 and I will have fun playing with it. It will end up in a treadle or HC but will keep the motor because it is in very good shape.

Glenn, You will love it! I use a 201 for a daily sewer. It is the best machine. I got it at a auction several years ago for $14. People really like their featherweights & 301's. I have both of them and like them fine, but after working on the 201 it is hard to go back to the 301 and featherweights.

Glenn, that is a beauty. I keep thinking I 'need' a 201, but I've haven't seen one in years. My grandmother's machine that I made her dresses on when I was 12 was a twin to your machine, except it was in cabinet. Grandma was a serious hand quilter - she supported herself with her quilts. One year we went to Sioux City and bought her fabric for dresses. Returned the next Summer and there was the fabric and pattern still in the brown paper bag. So I stayed home from the reunion (the other side of the family) and made the dresses.
