Well, congrats. She must have said yes when you were on one knee - she is wearing the neat old ring.

yeah, we've only known each other since High School... She was my best friends girlfriend and he treated her like crap.

I told him if he did not treat her right I would.... Ta da!

Congrats Steve!! Love the ring! That's it, treat her right and you both will be happy!

Hi everyone, especially Steve H. Steve helped me out on my most recent project by making a pair of slideplates for an antique fiddle base machine I restored. He did a fantastic job. I wanted to share the pictures in the "Can This Machine Be Rescued?" thread. I just posted them here~ http://www.quiltingboard.com/vintage...216857-18.html I wasn't able to get the machine polished up as much as I would have liked because the clear coat had oxidized to the point that if I had polished it up, it would have no decals left on it at all. I am happy to say that I had almost zero loss of the decals of what was left on it to start with.

no problem, glad to help. Took a little longer to get them to you than I'd have liked but glad they are ok.

I am going to see my Instructor sometime in the next few weeks and when that happens I am going to see if I can use his Beading Jenny to roll form the thinner metal with the formed edges that the original plates had.

BTW - I also helped Cathy on Wednesday by making/modifying a knee bar for an older machine.

I wish I had taken some before and after shots, but it only took about 20 minutes to make so we finished before we thought of pics...

If anyone needs help with one let me know.

I have a question. I have been asked to provide to provide a sewing machine to a homeless shelter. I did tell them it would be a vintage aged machine because I don't have anything else. They are okay with that but want just one to start with to see how it goes. I have a collection (Don't we all??) to choose from but am wondering what machine might be best to provide. I have a couple that take funky needles so won't provide them but would love to hear others' thoughts on this.
