Since many of us are shipping our precious machines I thought that I would share this site that not only has a lot of information about vintage machines but also several very excellent tutorials on how to pack a machine for shipping. On the home page scroll down to the packing box and click on it. He has a wealth of information to share.

Darcene

Thanks Darcene good info. Glenn

Doug, that is great news from the Dr. Now you will have time to read the entire (soon to be) 300+ pages of this topic. Then in your "spare" time (I always love that one, who ever really has spare time?) you can put together a spreadsheet or something like that to help us search inside of this topic....something like: FW machines on pages X, XY, XYZ, etc. W&W machines on pages A, AB, ABC, etc.....Just a thought...it would keep you busy since the Dr. won't allow sewing yet.....

Keep on taking care of yourself,
Darcene

That's a HUGE undertaking. I've already read all the pages once. Not sure I'd be up for it again. No promises, but will see what I can do. Yes, I will have a bunch of "downtime" but I can assure you it won't be wasted time.

I'm working on my New Home NLB freebie machine, have gotten it up and running and stitching a pretty nice even stitch. I found out that this machine takes a different needle-- CC1221. Some websites and blogs discussing these machines say that one can also use a 206x13 needle. I will also need bobbins. Does anyone know where I can get the needles and bobbins at a reasonable price?

I have my Mother's Pfaff 130 - not a treadle, but she used this machine almost everyday of her life for 50 years.

I gave her my Pfaff 1222E a few years ago because it was much more modern than her 130. She tried it a couple times and went back to the 130. She said it was like an old friend. Great machine!

There are several 130's on e-bay right now -- no treadles, and the bids are ranging from $65 up. I'd offer the $100, that is a good solid bid, and see if he accepts.

Do you know the year the machine was made? I might be able to help with that.

Good luck.

Nancy

Very cute and looks like it is in great shape. $20 If it calls you buy it for that money. I am a sucker for cabinets any ways.

Glad to hear the good news that everything is healing well. 4-6 Weeks of no sewing now that is hard!

That's what I paid for my machine w/no cabinet. So I'd go for it.
