Has anyone else had a chance to look at this machine! I think it is a excellent buy, I bet I could get it for $100?

Around here, FW's go for $350 and up. It is unusual to find one for under $300.

To the person who wondered where to start your vintage machine shopping, I'd do garage and estate sales. I have 4 treadles now, the oldest one 1901 and the most I paid for any of them is $50. They are all in good shape except the 1901 one!

Happy hunting -- that is half the fun! The other half is bring home the old machines, cleaning them up, polishing them and getting perfect stitches from them!

I just took the head out and figured I will mess with it another day.
I cleaned up my 66-16 and put it in there and it runs great! and it has a back tack that is so cool.

I would still try a different thread (when you get it back out). It was my bobbin thread that was causing skipped stitches on my treadle. And, I had the tension a bit too tight so sometimes it would not let the thread pull out and would break. Again, I am far from expert, just sharing my experince.

I pulled out all the tread that was on the bobbin when I got the machine and replaced it with my own.
If this machines bobbin area does not like my thread we have a problem lol cus I only use coats and clarke 100% cotton thread lol that I get at Joann's on sale or with a coupon.
I bought a 10$ spool of aurifil before and my (mondren Kenmore) hated it and refused to sew. I learned my lesson :lol:

I dont know. I didnt throw the thing out the wondow so she still has a chance. Just really ticked my feathers as I was on such a roll last night lol.

I have a domestic that I LOVE and it has never in the 9 years I have owned it given me any problems. I can even leave it sit for 1-2 years and come back to it and works like yesterday. I am finding that these Singers although nice are not like the
domestic

But I will get use to the Singers. So far the 66-16 is not giving me any trouble.
Also I found that I didnt need to change the hand wheel. The electric hand wheel will work for the treadle so that was cool.

I was already thinking of just displaying the red eye 66-1 as I love the decals and the 66-16's decals are already worn some

SO I may just display the redeye and bring her down a few times a year to use her and clean her up a bit

LOL, don't get rid of the thread just use another machine. I use C&C also, but was trying Gutterman's poly thread, mainly because it was handy, and the treadle did not like it!!! It does fine w/the C&C poly or 100% cotton.

Glad you are having fun sewing anyway. I am thankful to have more machines because I have a love/hate relationship w/my newer machine. So, when it wants to act up I can just go to another machine, lol.

Well Guys and Gals, I am doing a happy dance tonight. DH and I just won this on E bay. Can't wait to get her home. Will call her Diana. Suppose to be the same size as the FW. I think she sure is pretty. Going to put her in an orphan cabinet. Here's a few pic.

I have one I got at a thrift store. Nice machine, I paid 8.98 for it. ......almost like new, no scratches, rust or no problems, came with orig book and everything. Love to sew on it. Have my eye on a 3/4 cabinet for 75.00, but really don't have room for it. It came in a carrying case. I had it under my desk at work for 3 or 4 yrs and pieced at lunch time......even sewed up my boss's trousers one time, after a blow out when picking up a bankers file box. Too funny......a good thing his office has blinds.

Do you happen to know who made this machine? I looked and can't find any thing. Also if you have a book would you be willing to send me a copy? I would reimburse you for the postage. Thanks
