Can you identify the machine next to the Rocketeer, second shelf from the bottom. I saw one on e-Bay this week that looked in super condition for $36.( $40 shipping ) I am a rookie as far as vintage Singers. Is it a 15-21. I am dreaming about a FW but in the meantime I love the decals on this one. There area lot of Singer knockoffs out there so want to be sure. I never see any Singers that are not loaded w/rust in the thrift shops down here in Fl.

That is a 128 and it has a hand crank now but there I had not put it on there yet. But it is a VS (Vibrating Shuttle) machine and 3/4 sized.

If anyone can identify which model this is, I just love it. Sold already however but want to remember just ion case I see another like it. Sorry but to a rookie a lot of the black Singers look so similar.

I see that your Singer 237 had the external motor that you removed so that you could use the machine in the treadle. Very smart of you to do and easy. At first I thought it was an internal motor that you removed. So, it seems that if the machine has an external motor, not pot belly (internal)motor, the machine can be easily converted to treadle. Are there any other Singer zig zag machines like the Singer 237 with the external motor? Or is this the only model that Singer made that had the external motor? I like what you did and would love to find a machine with the zig zag that can be used in a treadle.

I have been researching other machines that have external motor with belts: Necchi, Morse, and Singer 319W.
Purplefiend, you have me on a hunt. I saw a Singer 319W that has built in stitches and has the external motor. I wonder if this too can be converted to a treadle-that would be way cool if so. I also noticed that the MorseMZZ and the Necchi Bu Mira both look like they too could be turned into a treadle. Has anyone converted any of these machines to treadle? If so, was it easy to convert over? I would love to take a machine that has the decorative stitches and convert it to treadle.

The Necchi BU machines can be treadled, but you have to drill out the holes for hinge pins if you drop it into a Singer cabinet.
The Singer 319 just needs a motorectomy to treadle, I treadle a Singer 15-90 and its sews beautifully. Some other machines with the external motor can be converted to treadle use as long as the handwheel has a deep belt groove.
I have discovered that the Singer 237m was offered as either an electric or treadle machine in Italy, where it was made.

Great to read that the Necchi Bu can be treadled. Now my hunt begins- and I had just stated that I would stop buying machines and focus into quilting. Oh well! :) Thanks for your info and have fun treadling.
