Your new featherweight is beautiful. My first black FW was also bought at a pawn shop and came with lots of goodies like yours did. This is the Vogue Stitch Machine I bought at Goodwill for $12.00. It came with one foot, stiletto, and a seam ripper. It does have a foot pedal, cord, and sews beautifully after much turning and twisting all the dials. It weighs a ton. I'm hoping someone may have a manual or any info about it that they would share with me.

Thanks so very much Caroline for posting pictures of my Gritzner. Now I'd like to know if anyone else has one like it. Does anyone have any idea where the serial numbers are on it? I'm thinking that it is possibly late 1800's-early 1900's. Anyone have any onfo on this?

I looked up Singer 401 & came up with a manual, how much it was then & now & when it was built. I got lucky. It has all the Cams, foot's, does free lance, embroidering, scallops Etc. Any one interested?

Janis,
The serial number is on the area surrounding the stitch length slide, which is on the far right of the bed. I can make out a few numbers when I look at your last picture. Cathy

Thanks Mizkaki, for the information. Is the number 4 that I see on the plate around the stitch length part of the serial number? I thought they were part of the stitch length guide and didn't pay any attention to them. Now I guess I'd better! Thanks again, you have been so helpful!

Yes, the numbers are stamped into a machined flat area on the bed.

I think I was looking for a more showy place for them. Does that mean that the numbers are stamped into the machine rather than on a plate attached to it? I think I need to look at it in better light than I had earlier.

I have a beautiful Singer Model 99. It was born October 22, 1925 in elizabeth, NJ. It is considered a 3/4 size machine. As soon as I am allowed to post pictures and such I will.
