Skip,

What a beautiful cabinet and machine!
Someday I hope to do some veneer replacement. And hope it comes somewhat close to looking as good as yours does.

Thank you guys for your compliments on the VF and cabinet. I usually am such a traditionalist and try to restore items to their original state if possible but after years of antique repair I just had to let go and have fun with this one. I had so fun with this one I just may do it again....

I just bought another two machines. The first is a 99K, amazingly cute and looks almost new except for the usual scratches where a pincloth has been.

Second is a 1910 red eye (66K)

They cost very little indeed (really: Vendors were happy but I really paid too little).

Skip,
Awesome. Can you rig a music box that plays "Hail to the Chief" when the lid is opened? Really spectacular.

It is exciting when you start having machines dropped on your doorstep! What is really cool is the machines that are being given to you probably all have a history you will hear about! That is fun!

Nancy, I just looked up the husband of the owner of the machine who it turns out was actually appointed Companion of the Order of the Star of India after serving as the Commissioner for Bombay in 1920 - later retiring to Scotland. I'll have to ask when the family emigrated to Australia but if the machine was 'commissioned' in 1917 and has the Star of India decals, then I am wondering if it has come via India and Scotland to make it here. It has an amazing history indeed!!
