Adding my belated sympathies. I'm frequently shocked at just how poorly people package anything they ship, but that was insane! I suspect most people think shipping is like Tetris, all the boxes nicely fitted together by people with OCD who have found their life's work, when it is really more like Asteroids. Random and hard to control, with inevitable crashing.

Good news, I got a full refund Better news, A local friend took pity on me and will be giving me one from her collection I plan to play with this as a hand crank challenge project. Final note, if this had been packed with closed cell foam it would have been fine. How horriblethat the original one got trashed. How great that you have a friend like that and you will be able to play with one. Janey - Neat people never make the exciting discoveries I do. |
Ugh! Sorry to see your machine got smashed but sounds like you have a relatively happy ending after all.
And now, I suppose, you have a parts machine... Still a little dismaying to see the machine destroyed forever, due to carelessness. I'm not sure if that's worse than seeing them turned into lamps and tractors or not! |
UPS delivered a Janome embroidery/sewing machine that they packaged for the seller, in a box with small Styrofoam pieces.....you can imagine the condition. Box was torn open case was broken...tray with accessories was out of the machine and all accessories were somewhere between MISSOURI AND tEXAS. UPS remark when I placed the claim....."no way that a sewing machine is worth $5,000!"
I told him it was worth $10,000. ..then I asked him if he would like my dropping his laptop from the plane to the concrete and see if it would work.....he got the message......So sorry for your broken machine, hope you find another one. |
At least you have a somewhat happy ending to the story. Please post pictures of your new Cinderella and your poor thing when you have a hand crank on it.

Will do. Thanks for all of the good thoughts. Life goes on.
This has inspired me to do a photo essay on the proper way to pack sewing machines and then make that a section of my webpage, so I can link folks to it when I order something (and others can too of course) Not sure when, but soon. |
You should post it on YouTube too. That is where the masses go to learn how to do something.

Truly so sad

So sorry Steve, some people are often rather clueless about many things today.

What a shame.
