Problem with my new 301
I need help, please. I purchased a 301 shortbed in a cabinet. She looks to be very clean. I threaded her with no problem, but when I fired her up the bobbin casing fell out of the machine, along with a flat disc that was attached to the case (this piece actually belongs to the casing the bobbin case slides into). On closer examination, there is a tiny screw missing that holds the round casing together that the bobbin case fits into. sorry I don't know the name of that part and can't yet find it.
my question is can those screws be purchased and does someone know where? Also, I assure that is going to take a very small screw driver. Where do you find those?
Thanks,
Sherry

As for the screwdriver? You can buy sets of tiny screwdrivers at hardware stores, auto parts stores, etc. that aren't terribly expensive.

301 Hook Assembly
I just removed the bobbin case and hook assembly from a non-functioning 301 and sold it on Ebay. I hope you can find the screw without having to buy the whole assembly. I think a start might be your local sewing machine repair person -- one who works on mechanical machines.
My picture shows three loose screws -- those attach the whole assembly to the sewing machine. You are probably referring to the screw shown next to the part number on my picture. An eyeglass screwdriver should work on that size if the Singer bobbin screwdriver is too big.
Good luck!

Just wanted to say thanks to all who have taken time to reply to me and especially to Dayle for the pic. you are correct. I found out it is the gib screw and Guy is sending me one. I'll let you know how it turns out.
