Do those felt pads have to be glued on? In the Featherweight manual it instructs you to glue on and I have wondered why? I have not done it to either of the FW I've cleaned, but am I going to rue up that decision? Thanks

Goo Gone is the only thing that worked for me - had to reapply often and used a lot of "elbow grease" on a paper towel, but it all came off finally.

I actually ended up using Citristrip, then dh repainted it for me (pad side only, of course..).
I also wonder if the pads have to be glued in? I can't really see why they would...but defer that question to others who have more experience than myself!

Because you don't want the pad falling foward onto the gears. The gears could chew it up and it could cause lots of problems.

I agree, try the goo-gone & you can also try diluted heinz white vinegar. Try 1 part to 3 parts water. This is what I used when refinishing furniture. It softens the glue & then you must wipe it clean, after which, I would use denatured alcohol-
good luck !
