Here is a link to a 153 owners manual. No mention of the electrical parts.

Jon
Thank you Jon. Does anybody know if the drive shaft is 1/4"? I need a new rubber pulley for the drive shaft.

Also, could I just rewire the plug to a random foot pedal?

Yes! 3 thin rectangular male leads for the motor and three female rectangular slots on the plug.

That's what I was thinking. Most machines don't use those, so you are stuck looking for Domestic or White ( and some Viking badged machines But if you find one of those in a foot pedal you should be good.

or learn to use your knee.

When the frixion drive is flat spotted, you can take a file to it. Get the motor spinning, and hold the file in place, until it's nice and round again.

Well I managed to bite the bullet she l and I paid for a crazy overpriced bobbin case. I also picked up a new friction tire.

my next question is, what needle works with this machine? And do they make needles that can handle heavier fabric?

I'm guessing that you mean 15x1, which are also known as HAX1 and 130/705H. From my understanding the White Vibrating Shuttle took 20x1 needles, but the rotary, which is what your machine is considered.would take the 15x1. It is usually recommended that one uses "sharps" rather than "universal" or "ball point needles" on these vintage machines. Back when I did garment sewing, I used Universal and sewed both woven and knits with them. I didn't have any problems with them, but your mileage may differ.
