Thanks! I have arranged with the seller that I will buy it, but I will ask him first to open the stitch plate and take a photo, for if the bobbin shuttle is not there, I will have to spend more on it than on the machine!

I have never seen a vibrating shuttle before, except just now in photos on the internet. So, is it just a shuttle, or is there a shuttle -and- a case, as with a bobbin being a bobbin plus a case?

I have to be able to ask very simple questions/give very simple directions to the seller to ask for info/photograph, as he does not know about sewing machines.

    Thanks in advance,

    -C

Hi Cecilia, there are three main pieces:
    1) a bobbin (it is the barbell shaped piece that holds the thread)
    2) a shuttle which holds the bobbin inside it (it is a bullet shape)
    3) a carrier which holds the shuttle (this piece is attached to the machine and can be seen when the slide plate is open)

"Bobbin Case" is not a term used with VS machines, it is the shuttle that holds the bobbin for VS machine. Did you see the pictures on Wikipedia? That site shows all three pieces clearly so hopefully you can communicate effectively with the seller.

Sorry for the poor quality of the photo, but here is my 128 opened up. You can see the Carrier and the bullet shuttle.

If you need carrier/shuttle/bobbin I have a spares of all three. let me know if you need them, free (you pay shipping)

Thanks, Steve - for the photo and the lovely offer!

This gives me the reassurance just to go ahead and get the machine, and not worry that it will be unusable without massive expenditure.

If I find that it is lacking the bobbin bits, I'll be in touch :-)

Horrified. I've been inoculated by a sewing machine... ARGH. It doesn't work - it is a total waste of time. There has to be a better solution.
