Ron,

The Spartan 192 and the 99k are the same machine. There is no difference in size.

I think the Spartan is about the same as a 99 with out the light and the bobbin winder is a bit simpler

That said - I have one in great shape and one that has horrible finish. Both sew equally well. Go figure. No stopping the little tank - it is what it is.

Cathy, thanks. I guess without the light and the simple little original base it gives a different perspective. I think I have a bentwood I might fix up for a home for the little guy.

I saw one fixed into a plastic tub. Sort of like a Rubbermaid shoe box or something. I haven't spotted one that fits my orphan - then again I haven't gone looking lately. They do need a base.
