All good advice, thank you
It is harder to look for the loop with these little side plates. Very easy on a rotary bobbin!

Did I understand Jon to say a loop will not form without a bit of cloth beneath the foot? I have not using a cloth yet, so will add that to list of things to look for and try.

BTW, as I manually move the wheel and watch the thread, the take up lever causes the thread to leap out of the tensioner and hang loose. I've been following the thread path laid out in the manual, and can't determine what the problem is.

The cloth helps "bind" the thread to form loop. Thread jumping the tension disc sounds like your problem. Wish I was more familiar to be more specific but it sounds like your on the right track.

I can send you a couple of Schmetz 12x1, 339, CANU23:51:2, size 12 needles, if you PM me with your address. These have the correct shank for your needle clamp. I have done business with the seller in the link you provided and would highly recommend.

Maria, that is wonderfully kind of you! Do you have any use for some DBx1, size 14? I'm happy to send you some of these... and if those are of no use to you I'd love to share some of the 12x1 size 14 when they come!

Sending PM...

Elpea,

The needles have been mailed. You should have them Friday. I appreciate your offer of the DBx1, but I have a supply of them, as the DBx1 is used for my Jones CS Handcrank. I have a substantial supply of these Singer 12x1 size 12, and enjoy helping out. Hope you can post a pic, so we can see how much better it fits.

Ellpea,

Thank you... I have plenty Size 14 too. (not nearly as many as sz 12, so I don't send those out). Please, just 'pass it on'. There will always be someone out there who you could help.

Sincerely
