You have to kind of set it I’m thinking Tammi of Archaic Arcane had a video on it for the 201 but it should be the same info for the spring.

I noticed a new video just before Christmas last year, Tammis video comes up right next to it in my browser. To get some spring in the spring, it has to be placed in a notch so the hole thing points down wards, or six o'clock position. It makes enough resistance when the rest of the parts come together. There might be slight differences to these tensioners, but the basics are the same.

Tammy,s videos have been a life saver but this machine doesn't want to respond and it is miss(as in doesn't have one . Not missing one) the usual metal plate with a pin that goes into the machine.
I don't have a photo.

Go back and look at Manicmike singer in this thread. The tensioner is the same type I am talking about.

It looks a lot like on other zigzaggers too, but it's not appart ;- ) How is the tension stud on your machine? Have you had it out? This is the closest thing I have managed to track on the web.

My suggestion was the stud might be slighly off its' mark if it doesn't have the regular notches.

Can you tell which part it is from page 19 of http://parts.singerco.com/IPsvcManuals/306W25.pdf ? Are you talking about the piece that is still on the machine? Do you have the rest of the parts? The pin that goes inside of that piece can sometimes be fashioned by using a similar size piece of rivet.

Janey - Neat people never make the exciting discoveries I do.

Spot on Janey, there's the detailed guide on how to adjust the spring, which is a bit different for this tensioner. The spring in question isn't mentioned until the next page (20), but it's all there. I've not noticed this on the 319 and 320.
