Default Singer 66-16 Question

I have a 66-16 and according to the manual, there's supposed to be a felt pad in the bobbin case area which I should oil. The pad is missing. Can someone show me a photo of where it should be and suggest where I can get the pad?

Cheryl

Cheryl,
There is a post that links to the pdf on tfsr that shows how to make the felt pad for oiling the bobbin area here -

another source would be http://www.archaicarcane.com/model-9...-dog-cleaning/
It shows the bobbin area and the red felt in the bobbin area.

There's suppose to be the same felt bit on my 99, but only the slightest remains of it is visible. I oil the race and hook under the bobbin case along with the rest of the machine, and it works just as well if not better. Anyway, I understand you want it replaced, I just haven't gotten around to it my self.

Wow, thanks! I have a felt spool pin pad and the tfsr photos are perfect. I can fix it up now.

I try to replace that pad on all the machines I refurbish if it is compromised. I think it is a lot more professional then just oiling it if you remember to do it. Some of the long bobbin machines have a little wick for oiling the shuttle, too.
