Default Singer 99 lens on spotlight

Does any one know how to put in a lens in a "spotlight" light? I have 2 machines where the lens is missing, I bought the lenses, but now can't get them installed. I'm afraid of breaking the ring that holds them in place when installing the lens. Any suggestions??
Thanks

There is supposed to be a circular flat spring under the fish eye lens. If it's not there the lens won't stay in. If it is there usually it's jammed up tight with debris and or rust, and the lens won't come out.

According to the owners manual you should be able to push in on the lens and turn it just a bit and it will pop out. Instal in reverse order.

However I have several machines with that goofy light and only one will work properly, the rest are a nightmare.

I suspect that is why many of these types of lights are missing the lens. People got fed up with fighting with them and once they got them out they tossed the lens somewhere never to be seen again and just used the machine without it.

I have a couple somebody broke probably trying to get them in or out. I wonder if there is an LED light bulb out there that would fit.

Thanks that kinda helps. There must be a part missing, or I just can't get the ring off. After hearing your comments maybe i'll accept the lens being gone since the lights work. Meanwhile I will continue to see if there is a solution and soak the rings with oil to see if they will loosen up. Again, thanks for your help
