Singer Model 6268
A friend of mine has a Singer Model 6268 embroidery/sewing machine left to her by her mother-in-law and has no idea how much it is worth and what exactly it can do. I am a quilter, but have never heard of this model before although I looked up one being sold on Ebay. Is this a sought after vintage machine? Anyone own one and use it? Thanks for any help.

It's not a "sought after vintage machine", because it's not vintage. It's a fairly new machine. Looking it up on Ebay would be a good place to find the value. Look for those that have sold, not still for sale, for value.

My Mother had one. It's not an embroidery machine, but does have many decorative stitches. I had sewn with it some and really liked it. I think she bought it in about 1985.
Here's a Youtube video for it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8LFjuFs2pHQ

I own a 6268, which currently resides in my basement, but still works perfectly. It has a specialty embroidery attachment (which was really state-of-the-art at the time, back in the 80's), so it does actually do some embroidery, using cartridges (I have a couple of them). It was Singer's top-of-the-line when I purchased it.
I've seen them sell on eBay for a wide variety of prices, from $250 on down. Most people consider it a crappy machine, but mine never gave me too many problems. I did have to get the motherboard replaced once upon a time.
