Thanks for the presser feet links, very interesting stuff. The presser bar spring on this machine was actually under pressure all the time, even with the screw all the way up. Fortunately I had another spring to swap in while doing a more detailed cleaning. That may have made a difference too.

I have been known to reduce or release the pressure regulator when storing the machine and forgetting that is what I did.
