Sheri,

Great, I had no knowledge of that site, do you have a link to it?

Chips,

I've been digging like crazy looking for parts. If you could give me the model # of the Singer I might be able to help there. It all depends on what is the problem with the machine.

Both the Singers and Kenmores with plastic gears can be fixed ... IF you can find the bits and pieces and want to work with them.

We're kind of deviating from the original intent of this thread, but that's OK. My question about CL was specific to that venue in that I can keep it local. I didn't want to get into shipping if I could avoid it.
And on a forum this large I really don't know just how many people would be interested. Most of us already have a bunch of machines and know what we are looking for. (IE; not wanting plastic gears.)
And the one time I looked at the for sale place here it was limited to quilting related items only. Which leaves out a lot of sewing stuff I'd think.

Joe, it's limited to quilting related items, but most quilters use sewing machines and tools... Machines/attachments are "legal" to post, but it has to be "yard sale value" if I read it right...

[QUOTE=Charlee;

I post with either "1.00 OBO" or "1.00 FIRM'. I post my phone number as "five four 1, nine 7 etc." and I request no text, and I don't allow my email to be used... not even anon.
********
Why do you write out the phone number? I have always wondered about that. And if you don't use your personal email, how do you hear from them, or do you mean you use the "reply to" number at the top of the page? I guess I'm a spammers delight

There are phisher bots that invade forums and other sights looking for contact information. If you post your phone number as (206) 555-1234 , those bots will grab it and someone will have your phone number. Perhaps tomorrow you start getting annoying phone calls from telemarketers in Singapore, or someone uses the phone number to find your address and you get uninvited guests at O:dark:30.
They can do the same thing with your email addy. That,s why many people refuse to put their email on the net or disguise it like the phone numbers. It's basically a self protection thing.
