Default Treadle base becomes a bar?

I have not seen this done before but maybe some of you have. In my opinion it's a bit weird and certainly not to my liking. I can see turning an old base that is missing the machine into a table or desk perhaps, just not this weird set-up.

(Sorry, I don't know how to just post the photos without the link but I know someone [Steve, I think] does.)

I've seen people do a lot with the cabinets/bases, including turning them into bathroom vanities, but that has to be the lamest repurposing I have seen to date. At least paint the wood a fun color.

Sorry, I'll pass...
Don't understand why people would do something like this...

Thanks for the link. I keep a photo collection of these kinds of “oddities”. This one is my 4th “Treadle Bar”, and in keeping with the “spirits theme”, I also have photos of a beer cooler made out of an electric sm cabinet, and a treadle beer cooler.

I’ve about quit saving photos of tables at 119 different ones, and the coffee tables are up to 13. I’ve got photos of 41 different “tractors” made out of sewing machines, so I may quit capturing them too. I even have photos of a farm truck made out of odd things including several sewing machine parts, some of which compliment a manure spreader as the driver and passenger compartment. Treadle iron ends are the seat backs for the toilet seat “seats”.

I wish I could show the photos, but I don’t have the copyright of them to publish them here (or anywhere).

A different idea but pretty crude execution. Never leave a 2x4 looking like a 2x4 if you're making indoor furniture.
I'll keep telling myself the cabinet was doomed before they got their grubby mitts on it.

What a hideous mess they made out of the irons. And apparently the weirdo did not know how to use a tape measure or a saw. A well deserved Jethro tap should be administered...

Some people should have their tools taken away.

my DD tells me I should take a Saturday and drive around to the "repurposed" sellers and lecture them about what could have been (including photos)

IMHO, that is hideous but that's only how I feel. My DH turned my old Singer treadle base into a beautiful table. He made a solid Oak top for the base & I use it in my dining room. It's beautiful. Shame on whoever did this.
