Default Treadle belt question

Looking to buy Singer G8299557. Needs a belt. Are these available? Could I replace it? Thanks so much for any advice you could give me.

Yes,they're lots of places to get them. I would highly recommend Sew Classic.com. I've also purchased them from ebay. I got one about 2 months ago from ebay for $3.45 and free shipping. You can also use aquarium air line tubing, it works great!

x2 on this idea

I have to admit, that I am hooked on this stuff. SO not "correct" for my old machines but having a stretchy belt that can be "stitched together instead of using the staple is pretty cool. I have an original Singer treadle belt tool and it is still way easier to use the tubing. (I blame Mizkaki, she started it for me...)

What is a treadle belt tool. I have some thing with my standard treadle that I do not recognize.

Why was the same question asked twice? Noticed that the OP has been replying to both of them, too

Wow, if I had that tool I wouldn't have started using aquarium tubing! I do like the tubing though.

To each their own, but I don't think I could bring myself to use a plastic treadle belt, even if it was many times better than leather. Maybe pantyhose in a pinch.
