Some time that machine will be totally restored... Well, I sure hope so. I learned a lot working with one that rusted. The rust did not get into the moving parts too bad. I was surprised. But it did not want to turn at all. Thankfully someone oiled it real good and the oil protected it. The T-F didn't really touch this machine. But the bike chain oil did the job. Seems like it was all of a sudden. I don't remember the name of the oil. It's in a green bottle... LOL I may need to get more aggressive with the Evapo-rust and some dremmel tools - then do Glenn's shellac restoration. Motor and wires need help, too.

Interesting, I had not thought about using my dremels for clean up. What attachments do you use, Miriam? I have most of the dremels in my little workshop. My husband likes to keep me supplied at Christmas time so I can tinker on things!

Actually it wasn't as hard as I thought to get it that far. I think it has a ways to go.

Tutorial coming at some point. Glenn, Phil and I worked on a tutorial. It is waiting for a bit of time when we can party via internet and get things polished up just a bit. I use a wire brush and then a buffing wheel.

Miriam, at what phase did you use Evapo-rust? Did you brush it on, soak the machine bottom section, or ?? Does it penetrate, or just neutralize surface rust and turn it to black (iron phosphate?) Look forward to your tutorial. I've got a 15-88 in a plastic tub with a lid, that I spray down, occasionally, then see if I can rock it a bit. It's so rough that mostly its a test piece, "let's see what happens if I..." Haven't tried heat yet though, maybe this weekend.

Seriously, what does putting hardware in a bottle of Tri-Flow oil do?
