Discovered by Ben Franklin. Edison working on electric light bulbs in 1880s time frame. Electricity not common in major cities until early 1900s -- 1910s and later. Some areas of US not electrified until 1940s and later. Hope this helps.

The seller mentions that the one he/she is selling is "similar" to the one in the photo. Does that mean that the picture isn't even a pic of the machine they are selling?
