JA is not the serial #. It means it was made in a Japanese factory. A #7 can easily look like a #2 and vice versa. I bet it is from the late sixties / early seventies and that would fit. Crazy looking machine. Looks more like a Kenmore than a Singer, but at least they got the name right.~G~
