Thank you, I have played with it today and I am impressed how quite it is. Makes a wonderful stitch. I don't seem to mind that this is an E machine. Of course I will have to try it out in the treadle and with a HC. It appears to be a work horse.

Glenn,
My 201-2 "IS" a workhorse and will remain an e-machine. I have other treadles and a HC to use so I don't want to fix it cos it ain't broke.
For straight line quilting the 201 is the best machine we have. For piecing, most any will do.

Glenn,
I love my 201k hand crank/treadle, its so quiet when its oiled correctly.
Just don't forget all the oil points on the bottom of the machine, I missed a few when I first started using it. I eventually found a manual for it and it showed all the oil points, lots quieter now.

I actually sewed the exterior leather for a hauberk (body armor) using our 201-2. I was able to do flat-felled seams through it all. the leather was 3oz Bison. Amazing machine.
(of course Heather angst about the machine getting "ruined" inspired the purchase of my 29-4 patcher...)

My children are such enablers. My youngest daughter showed up today with a set of White irons - no machine. Not sure what she expects me to do with them and I don't know enough about such things to know if they are complete. I need to put them beside a 'good' set for comparison. I do have a White Family Rotary portable on which I don't like the looks of the wiring.
Congratulations Glenn on your 201!
Nancy
