22? I hope it was at a bargain price, it takes a lot of time and effort to make them nice again. I hope the one with transverse shuttle and flowers turn out nice. The suitcase with the burgundy trim (under the rusty machine) looks promising :- )

For all of you with injured eye bones I thought I'd share this one I really did buy. I oiled it, pulled out thread at the bobbin and dug felt badgers out of the feed dogs (no dust bunnies there). It was nice and clean. Though, of course, the case smells a bit. Not as nice, but serviceable.

I think I saw the add too that you are referring to, leonf. I saw a few potted motor machines in the pictures that I would want, but the drive is too far for me and the conditions of those machines are pretty sorry. I love old sewing machines, but feel very challenged at the restoration part. Let us know if you get them for your offered price

A Sewhandy and a Featherweight, those are few and far between in my area. You did well, lots of fun, and lots of cleaning. What do you use, soap, water, furntiture polish, sewing machine oil? I can imagine you standing there with a bucket of hot soapy water and wrining up a cloth just to get the worst off :- )

Mickey 2, I haven't purchased the lot ( yet?) I didn't open the suitcase with the burgundy. Gotta be a few surprises.

NZ quilter I will obviously have more potted machines than I want/need, if I get them. I travel to Newton often and I could make you a deal. Some of the ones in the cabinets looked pretty decent. but not clean.

The Art Deco-looking cabinet with the curved front and inkwell is Singer No. 42. I have a few of them and none of mine have inkwells. And I use fountain pens!

ETA- nice looking featherweight. I think the curved bottom case is for a 300 series Singer. I know I saw one in a thrift store, but I thought I had the same machine, just not in that case. I couldn't find where I had seen it online about the same time.

A slight misunderstanding on my part, but what ever happens someone out there will have enough to do in late autumn evenings :- ) I guess a lot with 22 machines eventually needs to be split up and passed on, at least dry and heated storage space is a must to keep restored machines.

I have a Pfaff 60 treadle, its a joy to sew with. It just breaks my heart to see my machine's sister in such poor condition.
