Yep, it's a pin cushion....my beautiful old Pinnock has one. Cool machine.

It is a pincushion. My Fleetwood has one in the same spot. I wish I could see the front of the machine. It looks just like mine, same color. I got mine new in 1955 and was told that Necchi made them.

Sorry, nope. Fleetwoods were very cool looking Japanese machines built when Necchis were still being made in Italy.
