What is this part? This is what I thought I was missing but didn't see in the complete assembly.

That is the hook. It's in the bottom right of the auction photo.

My husband did up these pictures for me a while back - that is why they've got all the notes on them. I'm not good at that kind of stuff LOL!!

The part you are indicating is part of the machine - so if that is missing/broke, then you need more than the shuttle assembly.

Oh, that part. Yeah, if you are missing that, you have problems.

No I have that part, just not quite as shiny. It looks like I have all of it but the bobbin case. I'm going to see of the local guy has one, if not I'll order it.

Those are wonderful pictures Cathy! You wouldn't happen to have 201 pictures like that would you? I've read it's trickier.

the 201 is a pain! Enough so I don't think I could get DH to take one apart to take pictures. He did these for me earlier this year when we were helping someone on another board figure out what was missing under her machine. She had no shuttle body - so the bobbin case kept falling out on her. Easy fix - then she realized her bobbin winder was gone. A good example of someone using a machine for a few parts, then "donating" what was left to Goodwill.

I'm quite sure Rain has something on his site (vssmb.blogspot.com) that deals with the 201's hook mechanism. Once you've taken it apart once, it's not that bad.

And clone - Btw- that hole does not mean anything - just the way this one was made.

Macybaby are you talking about the hole in the bobbin case finger??? If it is:

In Bernina machines there are times you need to thread that hole for a better tension.......don't know about your machine.

that case came with the machine - and it was a Japanese ZZ saved by a garbage man and offered for $35 on Craigslist - I picked up for a friend and shipped it to West Virginia.

On of the prettiest machines - almost hated to send it off!

There are nothing in the manual about a hole in the finger on the bobbin case, so I expect the previous owner bought a replacement at some point in time.
