White Sewing Machine ...help please
We found this lovely White sewing machine a few years back. I just started sewing on it and it's a lovely machine, the stitches are fantastic piecing a quilt. I looked for serial numbers and couldn't find any and figure it's about time to oil the machine, but not sure where to do it. I do remember we cleaned it for hours when we got it and oiled it then, but that was a few years ago and I am not too sure where to do it now. The picture I am sending you is not my machine as I can't transport photos right now, but it's the same machine. I don't even know how old the machine is but it weighs a ton, so I'm figuring it is from the 50's sometime. Any help is appreciated.

I've got a similar one - that configuration of the front plate is unique - helps determine who made it.
This is my "version" of the machine. (the Tension dial is broken - what yours has is a very common looking one)

I have a White 793 too but it needs the shuttle hook and bobbin case. I finally got it loose and moving. Can't find parts yet. I did find a PDF manual. PM me if you want it. It is 62 pages long. I have to zoom in on the pages that show where to oil as the original scanner wasn't the greatest, but it was free.

All I can do is give you some general info. Your White is a Japanese made machine probably from the mid 60s. I'm not sure where to find the serial number, possibly stamped on the underside if it has one. Oil everywhere 2 pieces of metal rub against each other. Gears (if any) get grease. I have a couple Whites newer than yours, probably late 60s early 70s. Even the Japanese made Whites are good solid machines.
I haven't tried it myself. I've read here that Singerco.com has White manuals as well as Singer manuals on line. IIRC you type in the model number with a W in front of it.
