Welcome. The image size limit is 1.9 MB I used to reduce by percentage, but have found an option in my Microsoft Office Picture Manager for "Web - Large (640x480 px)" that seems to work well for me.

I found on http://needlebar.org/main/makers/uk/index.html that S. Smith & Company was a "retailer" that sold sewing machine . However, it did not list Seymour as one of the machines they sold. Seymour was supposedly one of the names that Gresham & Craven made. There are some pictures at http://needlebar.org/cm/thumbnails.php?album=1187 If you click on the thumbnail picture it will open to a larger image.

I tried to search for a patent but wasn't successful... especially for a British patent. Frequently, from that time frame, the US patents on sewing machines generally had dates, which makes it a little easier (or successful) search results.

I have no idea how much your machine is worth. However, I can tell you that most vintage machines are not worth very much. Your machine doesn't appear to be in really good condition, which hurts it's value. Unless it's very unusual or has some outstanding feature that is only found on that machine, the market value will not be great.

Most collectors who are willing to pay big bucks want machines that are in great condition. It's my observation that those who are willing to totally refurb machines (make new parts, etc.) often pay very little for those machines.

Of course, I've been wrong once or twice in my life.

In addition to what bkay said, I would advise not trying to clean it. Those decals look to be in pretty good shape and could be ruined if the proper techniques are not used. I think that the bobbin winder is missing some parts and probably need to be made.
