Cool Will my buttonholer work on a FW?

I got a Singer buttonholer a couple of years ago at an auction and am wondering if it will work on my featherweight. It's a No. 160506... the one in the green case. I haven't used it yet because I don't want to do something wrong but there is a book with it (copyright 1948) and it looks like a short straight shank. I remember using a buttonholer like this years ago and that one worked great. Have any of you used this model on a FW? Any suggestions on its use? .... things I need to know but don't remember after all these years.

I need to put a couple of buttonholes in the birthday dress I'm making for my great granddaughter and I only brought the FW to the cabin this year. If this doesn't work I'll need to figure out a plan #2.

    Thanks all.

Yes, that's the one you need...low, straight shank. They make the best buttonholes!

That buttonholer will work on all short shank Singer machines and it will even work on more modern machines. I use mine all the time on my Janome 6500 (just attach and drop the feed dogs) because the Janome's built in buttonholer will not handle large or thick buttons which I use on my bags. With the buttonholer you can also adjust the width of the stitch and can get cams for regular, rectangular or key hole buttonholes. Those old buttonholers make the best uniform most even button holes ever!

Thanks.... I do remember how great that old buttonholer was that I used years ago. I've done buttonholes on my new Viking but they aren't nearly as nice as the ones done with that old buttonholer machine. I just need to make a few practice ones before I finish the little GGD's dress. I'm anxious to have it done.

I have not used the Singer short shanke buttonholer on my FW, but I know that it works on them. What I have found, however, with the FW and attachments is that the threadcutter is sometimes in the way and must be temporarily removed in order to get enough space on the FW's shank.
