Default Willard (Millard) "A"

I am trying to find out some info on my Willard "A" treadle machine. It appears to be similar to the Singer 127 model, but the long bobbins are bigger and it came with a longer needle. I would like to know who made it, how old it is, and if there is anywhere to get replacement parts. Any hints on the type of needle to use would be appreciated. I have looked on the ISMACS site, but didn't find anything. Not sure how to post a picture.

Willard A is made by Davis and takes a 20x1 needle. Millard is made by Standard and takes a 15x1 needle. This is accordance with ISMACS. You should be able to find parts for these on Ebay and other sites on the net. Yes the Davis shuttle and bobbin is longer. If you have no 20x1 you can cheat a 15x1 down a little until it picks up the bobbin thread. I do this my Davis and it will sew a great stitch and you will never know the difference.

http://stores.ebay.com/Jacks-SM-Repair This is Jon's store on ebay and maybe able to help with parts and needles. He is an outstanding member of this board and VSS. I use him often.

Thanks so much! Are Willard and Millard two different brands then? The font is so fancy that it is hard to tell which it says, but there is definitely an "A" after.

Yes they are different brands. I am sure yours is a Willard if it has the A after it. Please post a pic if you can. If you go to reply look at the tool bar in reply you will see a square with a tree in it click on this and follow instructions to download a pic from your computer.

Most likely you need to resize the photo to 640 x 480.

We looked into resizing the photos but they appeared to be small enough already.

Here's something similar at the bottom of the page: http://www.kelsew.info/Domestic/dome...lsnolinks.html
Some differences but the Willard stencil appears the same. Probably late Teens or Twenties on the date. Standard 15x1. 2020, HAx1, 130/705H on the needle. You are correct, it is somewhat similar to the Singer 127. I have a later Minnesota E which is very similar to yours that uses a National shuttle and bobbin though it's not made by National. Domestic was absorbed by White in the mid twenties. Not sure what parts are missing but take a pic of the shuttle if your looking for more bobbins.
